Coeliac antibody tests help in the diagnosis of, and also can help to rule out this diagnosis. These tests detect autoantibodies that the body creates as part of an immune response to dietary proteins (such as gluten) found in wheat, rye, and barley. These autoantibodies are involved in inflammation in the gut and damage to the lining of the gut wall.

Tissue Transglutaminase IgA Antibody Test: What Is It?

Tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies (TTAs) are a kind of antibody generated by persons who are genetically predisposed to Coeliac Disease. Coeliac disease develops when the body misinterprets gluten proteins as foreign things, triggering an immunological reaction. Autoantibodies are produced as part of this reaction and 'attack' the foreign material, causing inflammation and damage in the small intestine.

Gluten is a protein present in the grains wheat, barley, and rye, and is widely used in cereals and other foods. Relatives of people with Coeliac Disease are known to have a higher chance of getting the disease.

Coeliac disease can manifest itself in a variety of ways, including:

·       Bloating

·       Diarrhea

·       Flatulence or excess wind

·       Unexplained weight loss

Our TTA home test is a very sensitive test for identifying celiac disease, and it's frequently combined with the gliadin test for a more precise diagnosis.

Why should I take a gluten sensitivity test?

If you've been experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, or if you have a close blood relative, who has Coeliac Disease, this home test, alone or in combination with a gliadin test, will help you determine whether you need to see a doctor or nutritionist to discuss your disease's management.
